We at are pleased to announce that, Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips, has been recently appointed as director of the English BA in Islamic Studies program of the Knowledge International University (KIU), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, after his book “The Fundamentals of Tawheed” was earlier chosen for its curriculum and he was initially appointed as lecturer in the field of ‘Aqeedah.
The KIU is a newly established Islamic academic institution built on modern information and communication technologies. It offers high quality-based, affordable and accessible world class education for aspiring students from all over the world. The university adopts distance learning via the internet as its main platform of education.
The chancellor of KIU is Sheikh Dr. Abdul-Rahman ibn Abdul-Aziz Al-Sudais of Makkah and it’s board of trustees is headed by Sheikh ‘Abdul-Aziz ibn Abdillah Al-Sheikh, Mufti of Saudi Arabia and President of the Senior Scholars’ Council (Hay’at Kibaar al-‘Ulamaa) . Other members of the board of trustees include Sheikh Dr. Saad ibn Naasir Al Shithry, a member of the Senior Scholars’ Council and the Vice-President of KIU; Sheikh Muhammad ibn Hasan Al Sheikh, also a member of the Senior Scholars’ Council; Dr Naasir Fareed Wasel, former Mufti of Egypt and Professor Dr. Saeed Arab Eedid, President of the Islamic University Malaysia. The faculty of KIU includes a number of illustrious scholars like Sheikh Dr. Salih ibn Fawzan Al Fawzan, a member of the Senior Scholars’ Council and Dr Ibrahim Al-Dawsari, Professor at Imam Muhammad bin Saud University.
The KIU offers degree courses in both Arabic and English. The two disciplines currently available in the English section are Islamic Studies and Qur’aanic Recitation. KIU also offers scholarships to deserving students. The Degree course of the KIU is in the process of getting its accreditation from the Saudi educational authorities responsible for higher education.
